There are reports of MyScore.com being affiliated with another parent company (Affinion Group) before the current registered parent company, Golden Scores, LLC. MyScore.com has been under Golden Scores' umbrella since 2013. Both of MyScore.com's parent companies are registered in Florida, which is common for the industry due to Florida’s less stringent regulations. Currently, the headquarters from Golden Scores is located in Tennessee. It appears that the only company which Golden Scores, LLC operates is MyScore.com.

It is interesting, but not necessarily surprising, to note that there is a government action against Affinion Group listed with the Better Business Bureau for their billing procedures, which sound quite similar to those which customers are saying about MyScore.com currently.

MyScore-Home-PageMyScore-Featuresmyscore.com-building

The Good

Setting MyScore.com apart from their competitors is that in addition to credit monitoring services, they offer a program called MyRewards.  This program is free for all subscribing customers as well as during the free trial.  (Use during the free trial may be rather limited however, just due to timing issues.)

MyRewards offers all subscribers:

  • Exclusive access to free products, coupons & more
  • 24/7 roadside assistance
  • $100s in monthly grocery and shopping coupons
  • $1000s in travel & hotel discounts
  • PC support & long distance calling
  • Discounted movie tickets, magazine subscriptions & much more

For those concerned about preventing credit fraud or just discovering that their identity or credit may have been compromised, MyScore.com offers free phone consultations by a credit fraud expert.  These calls do not offer any assistance in disputing these charges beyond basic information, however.

The Bad

There are several reports and investigations about MyScore.com and their cancellation and billing policies.  Many customers have reported that they were billed after they had cancelled their services, sometimes even being billed multiple times in a month.

KUTV News Report

The Bottom Line

Our review team cannot confidently and fully recommend MyScore.com as a good option for credit monitoring services.  They are priced higher than many of the competition for a similar product.  The addition of the MyRewards program and subsequent benefits does not off-set the higher cost for the credit monitoring.

MyScore.com has a history of billing issues which go beyond billing after a customer cancels their service which is alarming.  There are many former customers of MyScore.com reporting and providing evidence that there have been multiple charges against their credit card or debit card initiated by MyScore.com in the same month and for the full amount of their cancelled subscription.  While some can understand an occasional situation in which automatic billing and a cancellation request were timed too closely to one another to meet the deadline for an automatic payment, this doesn’t seem to be the case with MyScore.com, especially not with multiple debits occurring during the same month.

Price Range

MyScore.com is semi-transparent at best as far as their plans and their price structure.  Our review team received conflicting prices and information from the website and from representatives of MyScore.com.  As such, only information which was confirmed both online and through representatives is reported, which is a monthly fee of $29.95, which is billed monthly beginning on the 8th day after the free trial.

Trial Details

MyScore.com offers a free 7-Day trial with full access to all three credit reports and the scores from the major credit reporting bureaus for the full duration of the trial.  There are several complaints which have been filed by customers about MyScore.com charging during the trial, usually $1.

Scores & Reports Provided

MyScore.com offers their customers scores and reports from TransUnion, Equifax and Experian.

Error Dispute

MyScore.com does not offer tools for members to dispute errors on their credit reports.  The extent to which they help their customers in this instance is by providing the addresses and instructions on how to contact the credit bureaus to report these errors.

Monitoring

MyScore.com offers daily monitoring and alerts are sent via email for any change in one’s credit score or information is added to their credit reports.  All alerts are sent within 24 hours of the change.

Customers report that they were not alerted by MyScore.com in several independent reports however.

Credit Score and Report Refreshes

There is some level of discrepancy on the frequency of credit score and refreshes offered by MyScore.com.  This lies in that the site states that daily refreshes are available, but customers complain that their scores are not refreshed regularly at all.  Our review team was unable to receive definitive information from the company to clarify the apparent discrepancy in the frequency of refreshes of reports and scores.

Data Security

MyScore.com offers 128-bit SSL (secure sockets layer) technology for their site and the storage of their customers’ data to ensure that all personal data is secure.

Identity Theft Protection

MyScore.com doesn’t offer their customers identity theft protection services, but does offer free credit fraud consultation services.  These services can be helpful in the very early stages of realizing that there has been fraudulent activity on one’s credit report, but for more advanced help, one is better going to a specialized company.

Alert Options

MyScore.com gives their customers unlimited email alerts for “key changes” on their reports.  These alerts are only available via email and are delivered within 24 hours of any changes being detected on any of the customer’s three credit bureau files.  While other companies have text or phone alerts, MyScore.com does not currently offer these options to their customers.

Better Business Bureau Score

MyScore.com is owned and operated by Golden Scores, LLC.  As such, MyScore.com does not have a file with the Better Business Bureau as a company.  Golden Scores, LLC is listed with the BBB and has a current rating of an A+ and is not currently accredited.  Accreditation with the BBB is optional in all industries.  The BBB lowered Golden Scores rating due to the length of time which the company has been operating (since 2013).

I tried to cancel my membership. When I called I was immediately directed to a survey. I called a second time and I was put on hold for 20 mins. Then given a survey. So, I called a third time and sure enough, my account was not cancelled. When I asked to cancel it, the lady kept trying to sell me more things until I asked to speak to a supervisor, then it was cancelled within 2 mins. Customer service is horrible. Credit Karma is WAY better and doesn’t cost me anything.

I have never dealt with such poor customer service in my life. I simply called to cancel within the 7-day trial and found they charged me the very next day after I called.
So I called to demand a refund…well it took over a hour on the phone to speak with the escalation department. I was hung-up on by the first escalation agent then the 2nd customer service agent coughed and sniffled repeatedly without a simple “excuse me”. The 2nd escalation agent took all of my info to find after he put me on hold I was stuck back in the waiting queue. I called from my house phone and was connected to the same escalation agent. The escalation agent assured me I would receive the refund within 3-5 days, and will send a confirmation email.

I immediately notified my bank and gave them the agent’s ID #’s, the time of the call and MyScore contact number.

My recommendation…If you do not receive your refund contact the BBB and the Attorney General’s Office. They will insure you your money back.

I would never ever ever use this company again and will not recommend them to anyone. They are the worst…Stay clear away from this unprofessional company.

I used myscore.com to check my credit score not realizing that it was going to charge me $29.95 monthly. I noticed the same day that my online banking had a charge of $29.95 by myscore.com. I immediately called them and that they return my money only after going through an agent to get a supervisor to reimburse my money. The supervisor told me it would be reimbursed within 5 working days. That was on 12/23/14 today 1/2/15 I checked my account and there still hasn’t been a reimbursement of my money liked promised my the supervisor. So I called myscore back and talked to an agent. That agent said there was no record of my money being recorded and passed me onto a supervisor. As I was talking to the supervisor I had my online bank statement up and staring right at me. The supervisor insisted that I had been reimbursed even after telling him that I was looking at my bank account as we spoke and there was no re- deposit of $29.95 I was dumb founded by the lack of integrity of this company and told the supervisor that his company is dishonest and so was he and that there thieves. So Who ever reads this beware this company don’t care about your score and protecting it, they care about your money.

Just wanted to add that if your continue to be charged, get a new debit card or if possible, close your credit card or inform them of what is going on, I’ve found they are sympathetic to people getting ripped off by companies such as MY SCORE. They will refuse to honor their request for payment if you explain and provide proof that you cancelled.. I have stopped using any of these companies and only use the only real “free” credit report which is CreditReport..Com which entitles you to one free credit report a year. Make sure you have the right site, they will explain that you are entitled to this free once a year. MYSCORE>COM is a total ripoff.

After being charged for the monthly fee, I called the company and requested a refund as I had cancelled my membership within one week of signing up. They were very cordial, admitting they had made a mistake, but, its been more than 2 months and several e-mails and have never received my refund which is owed me as I cancelled well within the time frame. I just got yet ANOTHER e-mail requesting that they want me back. want my money back and never want to hear from them again. They do not refund your money even though they admit they charged you when they shouldn’t have. If I don’t receive a full refund within 2 weeks, I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau which I have had great success with in getting refunds from these kinds of companies.

I called to cancel my trial period. It was suppose to be a free trial period but once they get your credit card number a $1.00 fee is applied to your bank account. I called to cancel this trial period and the representative tried to talk me out of cancelling. Operator #16145 kept arguing and refusing to accept my cancellation until I was utterly furious and I hung up.

I don’t appreciate my business being handled by foreigners as this representative is one of the offshore employees to various corporations from the U.S. I consider this company unethical and strongarming customers into submission into accepting their credit report subscription.

    I don’t want it!!

Terrible company. I signed up and called to cancel the same day. I got an email from them about the call but I didn’t read it because I figured it would say that I had cancelled. One month later I get two emails from them saying that my credit card was declined. Called to cancel again and they said they would cancel it. The Customer service people are morons. Went back to look at the email and it turns out rather than canceling my account the first time, like I asked, they gave me a free month. And charged me $1 for the privilege. Sure hope it took this time and I’m glad I have no money in the bank.

Through Peanut Labs, I signed up for MyScore.com for a FREE trial for 7 days that would give me my 3 credit scores immediately and I would receive via Peanut Labs from MyScore 360 gems to use on Pogo.com. They welcomed me with email; I confirmed. They only gave me ONE credit score, billed my credit card $1 and denied any knowledge of Peanut Labs. I never received the gems. They reported to Peanut that I was not signed up. (I still have all their mail). They have the same offer via Peanut today. I canceled within 7 days. All my complaining did was receive an email saying they would refund my $1. Haven’t seen that yet, either. Collected TONS of personal information and then proved themselves to be a scam.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND IT’S PRACTICES. IT IS WORSE THAN THE PEOPLE THEY TRY TO PREVENT ACCESSING YOUR CREDIT. THEY’VE NOT ONLY MADE FRAUDULENT CHARGES ON MY CREDIT CARD, BUT ONCE YOU TRY TO CALL THE PHONE NUMBER ASSOCIATED WITH THE CHARGES ON YOUR CARD’S STATEMENT, THEIR COMPUTER LOGS THAT NUMBER, “YOURS”, AND BLOCKS IT FROM ACCEPTING ANY FUTURE CALLS TO DISPUTE IT. EVEN THEIR WEB-SITE’S CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER DOES THE EXACT SAME THING. THEN YOU ARE BLOCKED FROM CONTACTING THEM AND I HAVE ACTUALLY HAD TO CANCEL 2 CREDIT CARDS NOW, AND PAY THOSE FEES TOO, JUST TO “GET AWAY FROM THEM”. sO NOW, THEY SHOW I AM A MEMBER BUT CANNOT ACCESS THE COMPANY THAT AM SUPPOSED TO HAVE HIRED TO PROTECT ME FROM PEOPLE JUST LIKE THEM. THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF “PAYING” THE WOLF TO GUARD THE HEN HOUSE. TAKE MY ADVISE, PLEASE, DO NOT HAVE ANY THING TO DO WITH THEM AND I URGE YOU TO CONTACT THE AUTHORITIES, THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, AND ANY OTHER AGENCY THAT MAY HAVE SOME ENFORCEMENT OVER THEM AND THEIR PRACTICES. I AM DOING SO RIGHT NOW AND ANYONE ELSE SHOULD DO SO AS WELL. THIS IS JUST A CROOKED A COMPANY AS THE “PAYDAY LOAN” OUTFITS THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH. “DO NOT TOUCH, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE”. YOU’LL BE BETTER OFF AND GLAD YOU DID. THAT’S MY 2 CENTS WORTH. NOW I HAVE TO TRY TO GET THE $40+ THAT THEY HAVE SWINDLED ME OUT OFF, JUST FOR ONE MONTH, AND THEY DON’T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I AM A MEMBER, BUT THEY SURE TOOK MY MONEY “WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION”. THIS OUGHT TO BE FUN. IF ANYONE WANTS MORE THAN THE 2 CENTS, FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME, SCOTT.

Signed up for free trial. Didn’t get welcome email until day later. Thinking that was the official start of my trial period I called on day 7 to cancel. Both the frontline worker and the supervisor said that they began the period once my registration information was submitted. Not sure how they expect that to work when my email confirmation needed to get in the account didn’t arrive until the next day. Tried to amicably resolve the dispute but Nikki the supervisor was quite rude and unwilling to listen.

Figured I’d put this down as well. I just now got off the phone with a woman named Jackie from their customer service line. 10 out of 10 for her as a person and for the service she provided. She was able to tell me my account had been canceled as I wanted, and she was able to answer my question about my account on the website still being active after I had canceled. It takes them up to 48 hours to purge said account, if case you’re wondering.

My advice to anyone having these problems, be persistent. Apparently they do have good people working their phones, from home, which could explain the long wait times. One woman I spoke to had a smoke alarm in the background with a low battery. But, if you draw the right straw, you’ll be taken care of.

Worst comes to worst, file a report with the BBB. Even when the BBB has found it to be the filers fault, MyScore has ponied up a refund, maybe out of fear of someone digging more deeply into their practices.

To those who are still having these problems, good luck.

A few tips for people having problems. First, call them early. They start taking calls at 8:00AM, Eastern time. I called at 7:30AM Mountain time, or 9:30AM Eastern time, and I wasn’t on hold for more than a minute.

Second, the one dollar charge really is only to verify the account. It will drop off on its own, at least according to my bank.

Third, you can change the information in your account to ensure they cant take anymore money from you. At least, I think so. I changed some stuff, and the customer service rep couldn’t find out who I was until I used the fake information.

Last, if you cancel your account within the trial like I did, your bank will have your back. If not, then you’re going to end up having to eat the charge, because by the letter of the contract you entered by making the account, you allowed that charge. Anything else after the moment you cancel that account can be claimed as a fraudulent charge and they will fight for you.

I do hope this can help at least one of you. I live off around sixty dollars a month, so I know more than most what it’s like to have even one dollar taken from you that you didn’t have in the first place.

I tried to cancel during the trial period. The contract said it can only be cancelled “in writing”. Right. I have searched far and wide to find an address and none exists. Nothing in the membership area; nothing anywhere on the net.

Can anyone help me. I am currently traveling in Europe and will not spend the $$ to call the cs # for the reasons referred to above.

This website is a fraud. They advertise that your credit report and score “are totally free” yet give you no way to obtain that. What in the f. . . is your address, assh. . . .!

    WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

I had the worst experience dealing with the customer service. I don’t know why but this month when I signed in to the system, I was unable to see my report. The report options are with question marks asking to pay for it, but I’ve already been charged every month(and i was able to review the score in past months.) There’s no error message anywhere on the website, so I figured out that I should call the support team to find out why this happened.

First I spoke with a nice person who said “oh you need to do a manual activation. Don’t worry, I’ll transfer you to another department. The activation is simple” Then, the second guys was pretty rude. Not helpful at all. He said things like “I wish I know why it’s not working, but I don’t know.” “You’re only able to review the score once. Maybe when you first signed in, there was a system error. But I don’t know. I have no idea what’s wrong.” He just kept looping these non-sense instead letting me know what I should do, then I gave up. I told him that I wanted to cancel the service since I paid but not able to see anything.

You know what happened next? He hung up the call right away!! Without saying anything to me! I had to call back and confirmed with other agent and confirmed that he did cancel that service. It’s such a bad experience. I wished I had written down his ID but unfortunately I didn’t. I won’t recommend this service to any of my friends because they have a confusing website plus the worst customer support team!

Swindle defined. I signed up for the $25 credit check, which I understood to be a one-time deal. Now I find myself in a $29.95/month “premium membership”, with no way to cancel through the website. Tried calling them, was waiting over 15 minutes on the phone and couldn’t get through. Had to go on my way but I will be calling again.

It’s no coincidence you can’t cancel through the site, and it’s not coincidence that you’re not emailed about the premium membership, either. The people setting these sites up are the scum of the Internet, bottom feeders scraping up what they can from inattentive and unwitting customers.

I know how the phone call will go: the CSR will sell me every inch on improving my credit score and will only consider cancelling my account after I repeat “no” umpteen times.

I tried to use the service and I received an email that my credit card it was declined. I assumed that since I did not finish application they will not do anything. I WAS WRONG. Suddenly I see three charges of 29.95 in two days in my account. About 100 dollars for nothing. I cancelled my account and I am currently on hold listening to pathetic music for an hour, trying to see why I was charged without finishing my account and why I was charged 100 dollars for a month. STAY AWAY no customer service just music.

AVOID! Throughout the entire sign up process it is advertised as being free, and then as soon as you finish entering your details it charges you $1 enrollment fee! It also told me that I have to call them to confirm my identity, which had me on hold for so long that I had to give up. There is nowhere to cancel the account online, so I have no idea how I’m going to avoid the charge. I will probably have to file a dispute with my credit card company once it posts.

Wait times on calling are terrible. Finally got a customer service representative who didn’t seem to know the difference between an area code and a zip code, then claimed to have been right the whole time. I had to repeat my information to them three or four times before they finally got it right. I then was asked a customer service survey at the end in which it was unable to understand me when I gave it a negative review. So here is my review…avoid this company at all cost.

it has been 5 days since I was trying to cancel with no answer from them, I have 2 days left to do so otherwise they will start charging me the regular monthly subscription fees.

any idea how to reach those people?

I find it shady. My credit card information was taken. I realised I wanted to immediately. I am charged $28 so far. I am trying my hardest to call to cancel before any more false charges are incurred but the number on the website doesn’t work. NOW I DON’T KNOW HOW TO CANCEL. BEWARE!!!

It is a very shady website. I signed up for it, and wanted to cancel immediately, before any more fees were added, but was required to call up to do so.

Once I called, it took a few times to indicate that I was wanting to cancel, even though they have a specific menu option for cancellations.

I’d advise not using this company due to the lack of transparency they have with their business.

I had entered personal information and then asked for my credit card.. That’s deceptive, and was very disappointing to not know who may have my info… Brenda Hall

Real Reviews (yes they're real)

With so many companies out there, and a lack of sites willing to bring you the HONEST breakdowns of each company, what source can you turn to for the real information you can trust?

We are dedicated to bringing the truth out, and rank companies as they should be. Through our investigation, and experience with each company, we rank each company, and bring you our honest, unbiased opinion. We also include authentic user reviews by past customers of each company that are moderated and verified.

Like many sites, we are compensated through affiliate relationships with each company we review, however all of our rankings are based on our Ranking Criteria.

All reviews are subject to moderation and approval. Any reviews that may resemble false information, or competitors of another company will need to be verified by our staff before being approved and published. We reserve the right to approve or deny any reviews left on this site.
